Over the past twenty years Future Islands have travelled a rare arc, from promising newcomers to best-kept secret, from cult favourites to heroes of the genre. As they reach this remarkable milestone, they resist the obvious move. Instead of a ‘best-of’ compilation victory lap, Future Islands present From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth - an immediate and accessible collection – half of which has never appeared on streaming services – comprising alternate hits, rarities, and fan favourites that showcase the band’s palette and bring further colour to their uniquely universal appeal. The album will be released on 22 May 2026 and today the band share two songs, ‘Sail’ and ‘Find Love’.
As the title suggests, this double-LP traces the group’s journey from humble origins toward ever-widening horizons. Twenty songs for twenty years, four members of the band, four sides of vinyl. Future Islands have always been more than a viral moment; their career contains extraordinary depth and nuance, often overshadowed by louder peaks. These songs reveal a band comfortable with subtlety, grace, and emotional endurance - and they have never sounded more eternal.
The songs were first gathered into a playlist by bass lynchpin William Cashion, who also chose the title - “I’ve always loved the imagery of that lyric,” he makes clear, “the hole in the floor is the everyday, but the fountain is the magic that happens when the life you dreamed about actually becomes the one you’re living. It’s the dream and the reality existing in the same room.” A well-known Tennessee Williams quote talks of this kind of duration - “time is the longest distance between two places.” It is time that really separates the floor from the fountain.
Yes, Future Islands can wow and dazzle, but this release is about something else, something understated and more profound. “This is for everyone who has carried these songs with them, from the first house parties to the rooms we’re playing today,” explains Cashion.

Please note that we are a physical record shop, and we need to separate the record from the sleeve for security reasons unless the record is new and sealed.
All our MINT new vinyl records are unplayed, but we cannot guarantee that they will be sealed. If you require sealed records, please get in touch before placing an order.
If you require a different shipping option not available at checkout, please contact us via email, phone, or the live chat service at the bottom right of the browser page and we will try to help.
We aim to process and post our orders within 2-3 working days. We do not post orders on weekends or bank holidays.
Tracking numbers are not provided with UK Second Class postage.
Please be aware that we sell our stock from our physical shop rather than a warehouse. Therefore, stock is also sold in-store, which can result in our listings not always being updated in time and some items may not be available. In these cases, a full refund will be provided as soon as possible.

All our orders are sent via Royal Mail but anything over 2kg will be sent via courier.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:
All international orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked, or by courier if over 2kg.

Please contact us if you wish to return an item to us.
In the case of incorrect grading, listing or if the product is defective, we will cover return shipping and full refund of the item price and original shipping costs. We will send you money immediately for the return shipping, and process the full refund once we receive the item back to us in the same condition as we sent it.
We will only accept returns if the record was listed incorrectly or the record is faulty.
On receipt of the item back in the same condition as we sent it, we will refund you for the cost of the item only, NOT including original shipping costs or return shipping costs.
